Standing above a winding wooded valley in South Wales, this small Baptist chapel was first built in 1820 and served a scattered community of farmers and quarrymen. By 1859 the chapel was in a poor state and was in need of repair. Around 1900 the chapel was partially rebuilt and further repairs were made in 1905. The exact date of closure is uncertain, but appears to have been around the mid 20th century. The graveyard looks to have been maintained into the 21st century but is now neglected.

Further up the valley stands a disused slate quarry which was established in the early 19th Century. The quarry has been famous since the 1850s for being particularly rich in fossils, including shells and some of the earliest known fossils of vascular land plants, from the Silurian-Devonian boundary approximately 420 million years ago. The site is maintained as a geological reserve.
